Josie O’Connor PLA

Director of Landscape Architecture & Planning

Josie O'Connor

As Redland’s first Director of Landscape Architecture & Planning, Josie leads a practice built around the belief that the best places are ones that invite people to make them their own.

Josie combines big-picture vision with careful attention to the details that make spaces feel magical. Her work across Colorado reflects her talent for finding creative solutions that are both practical and inspiring, transforming challenging sites into distinctive focal points that weave local character into functional design.

What sets Josie apart is her natural curiosity and creativity. She tackles each project as both an artistic and practical challenge, creating environments that serve as blank canvases where people can create their own experiences. She anticipates industry trends and prepares her team through ongoing education, keeping Redland ahead of regional changes and evolving design standards.

A licensed landscape architect with dual degrees from Colorado State University, Josie has created beautiful, maintainable spaces across the world. Joining Redland in 2018 as a designer, Josie was named to the leadership team in 2025, where she continues to build a practice that balances innovation with real-world functionality.

Boulder-born and raised, Josie lives the community-centered lifestyle she designs. She and her husband, both former competitive soccer players, love getting outside to play with their young family and two dogs. Josie finds inspiration in the same neighborhood parks and green spaces that first sparked her passion for creating places where communities can flourish.
