Going Barefoot: A New Community for Colorado

Mar 22, 2017

A new community built for Colorado is taking shape north of Denver; Barefoot Lakes, a Redland project, is seeing great success after thoughtful planning and design.

Located roughly midway between downtown Denver, Fort Collins, and Boulder in the town of Firestone, Barefoot Lakes is part of a 1,300 acre master-planned community that will treat residents to roughly 350 acres of park space, including 100 acres of lakes and water features along St. Vrain Creek.  With such great access to trails and recreation opportunities, it has been touted as a community built specifically for the Colorado-outdoors lifestyle.

Redland has helped create this great community by collaborating with the owner, Brookfield Residential, the project planner, Design Workshop,  as well as other project stakeholders and local municipalities.  This process of design and coordination, which includes the first filing of homes and a “Peninsula Park” that extends into one of the community’s lakes, culminated with the groundbreaking of the project in late 2015.

With the first filing of 293 home sites under construction, demand has already merited a second filing, which will add an additional 200 home sites to the Barefoot Lakes community.  Full build-out will eventually include new commercial development, schools, and additional park/open space.

Redland is proud to be providing civil engineering and entitlement services for this project, and to be working with Brookfield Residential and Design Workshop on this community as it continues to thrive.
