Prairie Center’s Village Park Completes Expansion
A new neighborhood park expansion has been completed in Prairie Center Village V. Prairie Center is a contemporary master planned community in Brighton, Colorado. Conveniently located between the Village’s apartments and homes, the park is a natural gathering space for residents of all ages. Redland’s Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Land Planning and Landscape Architecture services were on the project team and played an integral role from expansion design to completion.
Our Landscape Architects created a thoughtful waterwise design, which was an emphasis from the very beginning. A waterwise design helps preserve long-term irrigation costs, decreased tap sizes, and less water shares which results in cost savings for the City of Brighton and the developer. Planting areas were designed to incorporate different blends of native seed to enhance the visuals of the planting areas. These selections not only look good but significantly reduce water dedication.
The expansion design was intended to not only enhance Phase 1 but honor it as well. While the original park included a playground and two sport courts, Phase 2 builds upon that foundation with the addition of a play lawn, interconnected walkways, site furnishings, a shade structure, and expanded playground equipment. All amenities and site features were carefully considered to ensure a seamless transition between the two phases and satisfy the needs of the community. The new landscape areas frame the social spots giving them a strong sense of place, the shade structure and center-circle walkway are sure to be spots where neighbors can gather for a beautiful Colorado day.
