In the mountain town of Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Meadows is a 68-acre retail development with 407,000 square feet of retail space including Target, Lowe’s, and 1,997 parking spaces. Redland designed 6,450 lineal feet of new public roadway and 1,200 lineal feet of improvements to the existing Midland Avenue adjacent to the property.

One of the unique aspects of this project was the creation of a 500 lineal foot “Main Street”, a pedestrian-oriented street with 63 on-street parking spaces, as well as a bike path along the project’s northern edge with two crossings under the two public roadways.

Creative grading designs minimized the use of retaining walls despite significant slope constraints with elevation differences of up to 125 feet. GPS work established horizontal and vertical control over this large area, accelerating the topographic work.

For this complex project, Redland provided a variety of services: roadway and parking lot design, utility design, ADA Compliance, major development package, major subdivision package, grading design and stormwater management, and drainage study.
